    Blended families are increasingly in dispute over assets that no longer exist because they have been sold to look after a surviving parent, with anything left over going to their natural children rather than step-siblings.

    Longer lives and the sharp increase in blended families are contributing to a spike in legal rows between siblings over assets – typically family homes, but also often involving jewellery, shares, private companies and bank accounts.
