    Healthscope was locked in negotiations with Gribbles majority shareholder Wallace Cameron last night as a deal looked increasingly likely to secure his 43 per cent stake in the pathology business and bring the $271 million takeover saga to an end.

    It is believed Mr Cameron is holding out for a slightly better bid, with the current 60 ¢ per share offer possibly ratcheted up to between 63 ¢ and 65 ¢ a share.
