    Victorian government dragged into West Gate Tunnel legal dispute

    Transurban's attempts to stop CIMIC and John Holland going ahead with arbitration over cost blowouts on Melbourne's $6.7 billion West Gate Tunnel have been challenged by the Victorian Supreme Court, which wants the state government to be involved in the legal action.

    Justice Kevin Lyons told lawyers representing the toll road company and the joint venture of CPB Contractors, a subsidiary of CIMIC, and John Holland on Thursday that he was "not convinced" by Transurban's argument that urgent court intervention was necessary to stop the arbitration.
