    Even though Myer Holdings delivered a result that was broadly in line with broker expectations, its share price increased nearly 6 per cent on a day when the S&P/ASX 200 index fell by more than 60 points.

    A stronger sales performance in the second quarter and a slight increase in profit along with fairly positive commentary regarding operational initiatives was perhaps responsible for sparking some enthusiasm.
