    A former Macquarie banker who left the world of finance to set up the Never Never Distilling Co gin business eight years ago with two friends has hit paydirt with a buyout by beer giant Asahi.

    Asahi, which owns the Carlton & United Breweries business making Victoria Bitter, Carlton Draught and Crown Lager, has acquired the South Australian premium gin maker.
