    Cyclone Jasper’s damage bill is mounting for insurers and government, as rainfall eases in some parts of North Queensland and flooding concerns shift westward.

    The Insurance Council of Australia had received 2912 claims as of Wednesday afternoon, up from 1870 a day earlier, after intense rainfall from the cyclone led to widespread flooding, including in Cairns, this week.
