Tightly held oil and gas junior Octanex is expected to be on the cusp of hunting for a new joint venture partner in the prolific Carnarvon Basin in Western Australia.

Octanex, which is 61.9 per cent owned by Geoff Albers, holds stakes in several large exploration leases in the Carnarvon Basin that belie the size of the company, including joint ventures with OMV, Eni and Royal Dutch Shell.
