    The new head of the prime minister’s department has revealed that Anthony Albanese did not have an up-to-date passport when he had to jet off to Japan on the Monday after the federal election.

    Weeks ahead of the May federal election date officials could see a looming challenge. A long-standing meeting of the important Quad alliance had been scheduled for Tokyo the Tuesday after the Saturday election.
