One must acknowledge that China’s ambassador to Australia, Xiao Qian, is a person of stature, not just because of his position and the country he represents, but because of the way he presents himself (“Talks under way to end trade disputes”, January 11).
His energetic charm, interwoven with quick wit and well-targeted humour, easily captures the attention of his audience. He does his homework, seems well briefed, and delivers the messages of his masters in Beijing effectively and succinctly.
