    John Mullen is a busy fellow these days, chairing Telstra and Brambles while serving as a director of NYSE-listed Brookfield Infrastructure Partners, which is currently trying to buy AusNet Services.

    Indeed, Brookfield was four weeks into an exclusive eight-week due diligence period last week when the Takeovers Panel rudely determined that “AusNet did not conduct an effective auction process before entering [it].” This forced the data room’s door open to AusNet’s other bidder, APA Group.
