Brierley adds eggs to Guinness Peat's basket

Ron Brierley's Guinness Peat Group has seized an 18 per cent stake in Victorian egg operator Farm Pride, fuelling speculation a consolidation of the nation's egg sector could be imminent.

Sir Ron has shown a taste for food companies lately, having accumulated a large stake in Australia's biggest salmon producer Tassal and maintaining a position in Green's Foods and the Adelaide-based ABB Grain.
