Rio Tinto has appointed its global head of exploration Eric Finlayson as chief executive officer of Riversdale Mining after completing its $4 billion acquisition of the Mozambican coal developer on Friday. Mr Finlayson will be located in Maputo from July 1. Outgoing Riversdale chief executive Steve Mallyon will move into the role of special adviser to Mr Finlayson.
