    Western nations have been thrown into a “vulnerable position” by Chinese bans on exports of certain rare earth technologies, ramping up the need to develop Australian alternatives, Resources Minister Madeleine King says.

    Ms King will on Monday unveil almost $22 million in support for three research efforts aimed at developing the kinds of technologies Beijing has targeted.
