    The High Court detainee drama degenerated into Labor accusing Opposition leader Peter Dutton of prioritising paedophiles over children, while there was still no sign of the legislation that would enable the government to put the worst offenders among those released back behind bars.

    Mr Dutton, who witnessed domestic violence and child abuse during his time as a policeman, demanded an apology from Prime Minister Anthony Albanese as well as Aged Care Minister Anika Wells, who labelled him a “protector of paedophiles”.
