    Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese scarcely could have expected a more disastrous first full day of his campaign for the prime ministership.

    When asked to state the cash rate, he deflected the question. When asked the unemployment rate – something one might imagine to be pretty dear to a Labor leader – he squirmed and tentatively nominated “5 point … 4?” then admitted he didn’t know. He didn’t miss by a little. It was excruciating to watch.
