Miami | A small group of Cuban seniors silently circled the Cuban Memorial in Miami, slowly running their fingers over the names etched in the black marble.

The memorial, a 19-metre-high obelisk made of mosaic tiles with the Cuban flag, bears the names of more than 10,000 Cubans who were executed by the Castro regime or died at sea trying to reach the United States on rafts and boats after fleeing the country.
