Nothing designated Anthony Albanese as an opportunistic extreme left-leaning career politician more than his recent confrontation with a group of Australian rabbis (”Albanese vows to hit back at antisemitism”). He is sitting on the fence determining how to ameliorate the fallout this will cause with his largely Muslim electorate. There is no acceptance of responsibility towards the Jewish community other than feeble elusive promises.

No doubt the trauma of recent antisemitic events weighed heavily in the hearts and minds of the religious representatives. Mr Albanese gives no commitment to prosecuting those who perpetrate hate crimes, verbal or physical. The chaos and potential anarchy this attitude engenders, indicates the dangers this government is willing to risk, at the expense of the Jewish population.
