Activist Elliott builds $1b Anglo American stake

Elliott Investment Management has built a roughly $US1 billion ($1.53 billion) stake in Anglo American, the UK-listed miner that’s received an unsolicited takeover approach from BHP.
The activist hedge fund led by Paul Singer has exposure to almost 33.6 million Anglo American shares via derivatives, according to a UK regulatory filing on Friday (Saturday AEST).
