India’s former high commissioner to Australia has been ordered to pay a $97,200 fine for domestic worker wage theft for a staffer found working in “slave-like” conditions in his Canberra home.
The civil penalty comes after Federal Court Justice Elizabeth Raper last year ordered India’s chief diplomat in Australia from 2015 to 2016, Navdeep Suri Singh, to pay $189,000 in unpaid wages and interest.
