The rate of teens finishing year 12 is falling

School dropout rates before the end of year 12 have reached a 10-year high, with one in every five students nationally not completing their full 13 years of basic education.
At the same time, attendance rates of students in years 7 to 10 have declined dramatically, particularly in government schools.
